One-Day Pig Keeping Courses & Half-Day Pig Handling Workshops

All you need to bring is a coat and clean waterproof footwear. Price includes refreshments and home-made cakes throughout the day  (rare breed saddleback pork lunch on the one-day course) and a full colour course manual for each delegate (different manuals for each course).

The one-day course is 50:50 theory and hands-on - have a go at stick & boarding with highly experienced pig handler on our trained pigs and cover the theory with highly qualified pig keeper (Ph.D. obtained working in the livestock health industry). Our ethos is that you can read when you like but cannot get hands-on when you like before you get pigs so we try to maximise the time with the pigs as much as possible without skimping on the theory.

The half-day workshop is 90:10 hands-on and theory. The hands-on includes stick and boarding trained pigs and then untrained pigs so you can experience what it will be like with your first pigs. Also covered is loading pigs that have never been loaded before , boar handling and show ring etiquette for those budding pig exhibitors. Must be physically fit for the workshop.
